Gesshin-in has never experienced a fire in its over 400 years of history, a remarkable feat given that many historic buildings in Kyoto have been damaged or destroyed by fires over the centuries. This well-preserved temple allows visitors to reminisce about Kyoto's history as it retains its appearance from the time of its construction. Guests came during the peak of the autumn foliage season and enjoyed a zazen meditation experience with a view of the vibrant garden. After the experience, they enjoyed an aperitif in the garden. For dinner, they were taken to Akagane Resort Kyoto Higashiyama 1925, located in the heart of Higashiyama, Kyoto, where they savored Kyoto-style French cuisine themed around "health and beauty."
