Higashiyama is one of the tourist attractions with many shrines and temples, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple. This renovated home is owned by a long-established company that has been in business for 250 years and stands on a vast site that makes use of the slope that is unique to Higashiyama.
At the foot of Yasaka Pagoda, walk along the stone-paved road and pass the stately gate that stands in front of you, and you will find yourself in a quiet forest far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. Enjoy this sophisticated space that sparkles with “copper (AKAGANE)” with “bronze” and “red copper” placed throughout.
The former residence of a long-established Kyoto company owner, decorated with glittering copper, for 250 years
Built in 1925, this residence, formerly known as the Akagane Residence, has roots in a long-established Kyoto company that has been in business for about 250 years since the Edo period, and is the private residence of the owner of one of Japan’s leading copper processing manufacturers. As its name suggests, the roof, gutters, and other areas are lavishly decorated with copper.
Venue Introduction
HISUI
A renovated residence built in the Taisho period, this space features impressive copper accents. The upper part of the wall shows traces of the second-floor windows before the renovation, and the deep green and copper glow from the two windows add color to the party.
AKAGANE
A banquet hall with impressive large windows and high ceilings, accented with copper and peacock motifs scattered throughout. This independent venue, designed in a modern style while inheriting the good points of other facilities built in the early Showa era, stands in the forest and has an open feeling where the greenery stands out. It is a private resort that is truly suitable for entertaining guests.
VIP Room
A Western-style space that was originally used as a reception room. Retro furnishings such as a marble fireplace and parquet floor remain.
KIWAMI
A chef’s table with only 11 seats facing you through a lush garden. It is an exquisite private space decorated with Nishijin textiles.
